Security with the reception of AIS signal
Geonav RO 4800, absolute novelty on the market, is a VHF able to receive AIS signals, without requiring any additional antenna.
This device combines high performance with the renowned reliability of Geonav RO4700, in a “clean” design and ergonomic shape.
Many functions available: SCAN mode, dual or triple watch, output power selectable between 1W and 25W, a dedicated key for direct access to channel 16.
In case of need, if connected to a chartplotter, it can send through the DISTRESS key the emergency call, also transmitting the vessel coordinates.
The reception of AIS signals, the real novelty of this VHF, allows the visualization of vessels (those capable of transmitting this information) directly on the chartplotter display: in this way it’s possible to see on the map screen their position and the MMSI number. Further details on the boat are then provided: name and nationality, direction and speed, coordinates, length, destination and condition at the time of detection. In any case the complete data reception is linked to their transmission from the vessel itself.
Traffic monitoring, especially in areas of “high density”, will be very easy.
Another novelty of Geonav RO4800 is the combination with the cordless handset Geonav P4800, indispensable accessory to communicate with the base station. This combination facilitates the use of VHF in many situations, wherever the distance from the base station may cause difficulties.
